Okdangsik is such a cozy spot and I had such a comforting meal on such a cold day. It's a bar style seating so it is fairly. small and not really meant for a big party. I made reservations for 2 and we were seated right away; didn't have to wait or anything. They only offer 2 items on the menu - Kimchi Mando and the weil Gomtang. Because they only specialize in the two items, the food came out right away. The mando, only comes with 4 per order, but they were decently sized and it was actually_so. good. The skin was light, thin and chewy. The filling was full of flavor and had a nice kick to it. The Dweii Gomtang was simple and good. It really hit the spot and it tasted really clean too. The spicy paste they recommend to pair the pork with was actually spicy too. Beware it you can't handle spicy food. I also had a Tangerine Ade to drink; it wasn't overly sweet and it was more on the tangy side. It was a refreshing drink to have while eating. I will definitely return again.

I think i would say a 3.5 star, but yelp does not have this option. a casual homemade lunch spot in K-Town, after my Korean co-worker raved about it. Famous for their soup over rice, I was excited to give it a try! The restaurant has a cozy vibe with only bar seating, which adds to the casual atmosphere. We decided to try both the cold soup and the regular soup style. The waiter was super helpful, providing clear instructions on how to enjoy the dishes. While I found the food to be okay, it was slightly lacking in flavor compared to other Korean spots in the area. It definitely felt healthier, which is a plus if you're looking for a lighter meal. My co-worker, however, rated it pretty good, so it seems to be a hit among those who appreciate traditional Korean flavors. Overall, if you're looking for a healthier lunch option in K-Town and don't mind a more subtle taste, this place is worth a visit!

One of the best meals I had in 2024, actually in my life. The Gomtang was insane. Such a clear and clean broth with so much depth, they could tell me they cooked this broth for 2 weeks and I wouldn't question it at all. I'm not a huge meat person but I did devour the pork in my soup. Every bite was insane, I added a little bit of the fermented pepper paste into each spoonful to make the perfect bite. The kimchi mandu are a MUST order, the filling is so flavorful and substantial. Wrapping is very thin, best kimchi dumping in nyc! All seating is counter service so it is busy and service is fast. I really enjoy counter seating, I love to see everything being made and with such a small menu, you really get to see everything.

I totally agree with other Yelpers that "comfort" is what comes to mind at Okdongsik!! There is only 2 things on the menu so you don't even need to pick. My favorite part was actually their fermented red pepper paste cause it complemented the pork really well! Loved how the soup was very hot but it didn't have that much flavor besides the black pepper. Wish there were more green onions. I think it was also a little too much rice for me but my partner enjoyed his meal thoroughly! The kimchi mandu featured a thin and chewy dumpling that encased a spicy, well-seasoned tofu/pork filling. The store itself is minimalistic and only has bar seating. Hooks under the seat and on the walls are available for your jackets. Overall I enjoyed the meal but for the feeling of comfort, I would have preferred to eat this type of food in the comfort of my home?

Deliciously packed Mandus and really hearty gomtang. There is a decent amount of meat in there too which was tasty with the spicy sauce. The place only seats about 10 people so the vibe is very warm and intimate. You are seated around the the chefs so you get to see their craftsmanship. Would be a good comfort place if it wasn't so hard to get a spot.

Love a spot that specializes in only 1-2 dishes cuz that means it's done really well. Okdongsik definitely does a good job in making its gomtang and kimchi mandu; the mandu is super juicy and the gomtang is just such good comfort food. I first came here when it was just a popup and i keep coming back; so glad it's a permanent spot.

So glad I got to try this place. I was always curious about this place and heard it was really good. Sure enough, the food here didn't disappoint. Portion was perfect for me, and the menu (while limited) had everything that I love on it. My advice: Try both the mandoo and gomtang. Also, make sure to book a reservation. We saw walk-in customers get turned away because the restaurant had only prepped just the right amount of food for the reservations they had that night.

Ended up eating here as a late lunch on a last second whim since normally they're pretty booked up with reservations, but they just happened to have 2 open seats for walk-in's near closing. Menu was small, so we ordered the Gomtang and Kimchi Mari Bap to share. Both were amazing and really hit the spot after a long day of exploring the city. Especially loved the combination of rice and soup with the gomtang even though it was super hot outside that day. Regardless, it was the perfect comfort food and felt super satisfied after. The interior is a bit limited with really only a bar for seating, so likely not good for large groups. Servers were very attentive and patient with us even though we were the last people there eating. I think this place would taste even better in cold weather. Would definitely come back.

If you're craving something comforting and full of flavor, Okdongsik in Koreatown is the spot! This place was supposed to be a pop-up, but the owner made it permanent. I made a reservation because seating is super limited, and I didn't want to miss out. The vibe here is modern and cozy, and the staff were super friendly right from the start. They took the time to walk us through the menu, which only has a few items. I went with the tangerine ade, it was the perfect mix of sweet and tangy--exactly what I needed on a hot day. For food, I ordered the Dewji Gomtang and Kimchi Mandoo. The gomtang broth was light but still hearty, like the perfect thing you want when you're feeling a little under the weather. The pork was so tender, it basically melted in my mouth. They give you kimchi on the side, and mixing it into the soup or just taking a bite with the rice and broth. The Kimchi Mandoo? SO good. Each dumpling was packed with flavor, and they were perfectly cooked. While I did have high expectations due to its Korean reputation, Okdongsik delivered. I wouldn't hesitate to come back, especially on a rainy day when I'm craving something warm and comforting!
